Maple Oat Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 pkg Fast-Rising Instant Yeast
- 3 cups Bread Flour You could also use all-purpose or self-rising
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup Old-fashioned whole grain oats Any oats will work
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup Maple pancake syrup You could use any pancake syrup really.
- 1 tbsp sugar
- butter, melted
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of warm water with 1 tbsp of sugar. Set aside until yeast starts to bubble and becomes activated.
- Add all the remaining dry ingredients into the mixing bowl and blend it together.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast mixture.
- Add the remaining 1/2 cup of warm water.
- Add the syrup.
- Mix until the dough is well blended, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to incorporate all the ingredients.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
- You're not really going to knead the dough. You basically just fold it as you are working it into the shape of the pan that you are going to use. (When you are done doing this, the dough will not be sticky anymore.)
- Place dough into one greased bread loaf pan.
- Cover and set in warm area to let rise. (approximately 3 hours)
- Once it has rose, brush the top lightly with melted butter and place in the oven at 350.
- After 25 min, check with a toothpick to see if done.
- Brush the top again with melted butter and place back in the over to finish cooking and to brown. (test doneness with toothpick in center)
- When the toothpick comes out clean, remove from oven, brush the top with melted butter once again, and remove from pan.
- Let bread rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
